CBD FAQ

What is CBD?

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of over 110 naturally occurring cannabinoids and is a non-psychoactive component of the Hemp or Cannabis plant. It possesses many of the healing properties without the “high” that is delivered by THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol).

Is this legal?

On Feb. 7th 2014 Sec.7606 of The Farm Bill was signed into law allowing the cultivation of hemp with less than 0.3% THC by state departments of agriculture, universities and business entities. The 108th General Assembly then enacted Public Chapter 916 removing hemp from the definition of marijuana in the criminal code and Tennessee began crafting its program for the state.

On May 11th 2017 Governor Bill Haslam signed HB1164, which further modified the definition of Industrial hemp to include products made from the plant for ingestion or topical use. Keep in mind that just because these products are legal in Tennessee and produced within a federally legal program, there may be local laws affecting your ability to lawfully have these products. We encourage you to buy at your own risk after looking into the local laws that affect you.

What are the benefits of CBD?

The FDA has not evaluated any of these products and we do not make any claims or guarantees about the use of our products to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. Due to FDA regulations, we are unable to speak about our products without risking severe penalties which would limit our ability to provide quality CBD oil products.

We do have many inspiring stories and feedback from customers around the country on how our products have changed their lives. Many personal testimonials are available online, along with an ever-growing collection of information on this topic. As always, if you have any concerns or questions about your health, you should consult with a physician or other healthcare professional.

Will it make me fail a drug test?

The short answer? It depends on the product.

Our CBoD oil tinctures are THC-free and safe for work. Our CBoD topical balm is full spectrum and does contain trace amounts of THC.

Drug tests check for a metabolite produced from THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol. CBD is a completely different molecule and does not cause the body to produce this metabolite in meaningful amounts, therefore CBD isolate products (products which contain zero THC) will not result in a positive test.

Whole-plant, or full spectrum CBD does contain trace amounts of THC which may show up on a drug test. If this testing is part of your way of life, we recommend using isolate products to eliminate the chances of failing a drug test.

Does CBoD contain alcohol?

No. "Apple Pie Moonshine" is just our handcrafted flavor, that we're sure you will love!

How is CBD derived from the plant?

A closed loop Supercritical CO2 extraction process is used that creates phase changes in carbon dioxide utilizing very cold temperatures and high pressure. In liquid form, the CO2 acts as a solvent, removing the desired components from the plant.

Next, a winterization process removes the fats and lipids and all residual solvents are removed. Finally, a complex distillation process is used to isolate individual compounds such as CBD.

Is CBD safe?

Yes! Not only is it safe, it can be taken by kids and animals. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
